Folsom Street Events - FY 2008 Achievements
Event Planning and Production
- Observed 25TH Folsom Street Fair with street pole banners on Market Street and an historical exhibit at GLBT Historical Society (Fun, Frolic, Fetish: 25 Years of Folsom Street Fair)
- Produced extra 25TH Folsom Street Fair special events including a formal gala dinner with Joan Rivers, a City Hall reception, and a guided tour of GLBT and leather San Francisco
- Sustained a booming fourth fetish event, Bay of Pigstm over Up Your Alley (UYA) weekend
- Executed an expanded UYA footprint with more room, more exhibitors, and a safer setting
- Produced another sold-out Magnitude event (for 2,200+ attendees) in a new venue
- Sold out of Exhibitor booths for both UYA and Folsom Street Fair (FSF)
- Engaged women's community through a flourishing Women's Committee
- Developed Women's Area ("Venus' Playground") at FSF with space and new programming
- Introduced a juried process for Artists Area at FSF, selecting 11 erotic artists to participate
- .Attracted big name bands to FSF - Berlin, The Presets, English Beat, and Shiny Toy Guns
- Achieved outstanding diversion rates in our recycling and composting program
- Responded effectively to all fair medical emergencies
- Received positive community feedback on all four events
- Produced very successful Beneficiary Awards Reception
Community, Fundraising, Marketing and Media
- Managed ongoing positive community relationships with City agencies (e.g. SFPD, DPT, SFFD, and DPH), businesses, and other entities (e.g. Folsom Dore Apartments)
- Managed sponsorships of LA Leather, Leather Leadership Conference, IMsL, CLAW, SELF
- Created new relationships to promote events (SF2Oz, White Party, CLAW Nation)
- Maintained healthy sponsorship income in a tight economy
- Generated new record for beer sales at FSF
- Generated new record for gate donations at FSF
- Generated new record for Magnitude income
- Produced an expanded FSF Program Guide with 80 pages of articles, resources, and photos
- Continued national distribution of FSF Program Guide into 50 metropolitan markets
- Maintained vital GFTA support for arts programming
- Photographed and designed a winning FSF poster series, stressing our international appeal
- Worked successfully with NCSF to manage all media and PR inquiries
Operations
- Executed a new and largely successful Beneficiary structure
- Introduced a competitive process for the National Grant-making Program and the TitanMen.com/Folsom Fund
- Introduced updated guidelines within the Exhibitor application process
- Maintained credit card processing for financial operations management
Board and Organizational Development
- Conducted successful Annual Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat
- Maintained a Board of Directors of nine (9) full members and eleven (11) associates
- Finalized registered trademarks for "Folsom Street Fair" (US) and "Folsom" (EU, CN)
- Generated second largest charitable check in Folsom Street Events' history, $340,750 (raising nearly $1 million of the agency's $4 million total in just the last three years)
- Funded 64 charities in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation
