Folsom Street Events - FY 2010 Achievements
Event Planning and Production
- Observed the annual Folsom Street Fair with 125 street pole banners on Market and Folsom Streets (in coordination with LeatherWalk)
- Coordinated regular meetings of SoMa businesses and nonprofits to create an exciting SF Leather Week calendar of events
- Produced extra events including a formal dinner with Sherry Vine at supperclub, the annual San Francisco Party at IML, and a women's play party
- Identified a new venue for fifth annual Bay of Pigstm over Up Your Alley (UYA) weekend
- Maintained a bigger UYA footprint with room for exhibitors and a safer setting for attendees
- Produced another sold-out Magnitude event (for 2,200+ attendees) at 525 Harrison
- Engaged women's community through the ongoing work of the FSE Women's Committee
- Celebrated the fifth year of "Venus' Playground" at FSF with space, demos, and giveaways
- Selected ten erotic artists to participate in the Artists' Area at FSF
- Attracted top notch bands to FSF including Dragonette, FM Attack, Deluka and Nitzer Ebb
- Responded effectively to all fair medical emergencies and continued to improve Medical staffing and resources
- Received positive community feedback and minimal complaints on all events
- Produced a very successful Beneficiary Awards Reception at The Armory
- Hosted additional events such as RECON's Full Fetish San Francisco
- Introduced a new official closing party for LGBT and pansexual communities, DEVIANTS
Community, Fundraising, Marketing, and Media
- Managed positive community relationships with City agencies (e.g. SFPD, DPT, SFFD, and DPH), businesses, and other entities (e.g. Father Alfred Center, Folsom Dore Apartments)
- Sponsored LA Leather, Mr. SF Leather, Renegade, Ms. SF Leather, IMsL, Folsom Fridays, Berlin Leder und Fetisch, e.V., and Sydney Leather Pride Association
- Maintained healthy sponsorships income in a struggling and weak economy
- Generated outstanding beer sales and gate donations at FSF
- Generated second highest net take for Magnitude income in our history
- Produced FSF Program Guide with articles, maps, and resources (in conjunction with GLOSS)
- Maintained vital GFTA support for arts programming
- Photographed and designed an extremely well-received and politically relevant FSF poster, stressing the importance of de-criminalization of adult consensual BDSM
- Continued to train and work with LA to revive LA Streetfest
Board and Organizational Development
- Conducted successful Annual Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat
- Maintained a Board of Directors of twelve (12) full members and ten (10) associates
- Maintained trademarks for "Folsom" all over the world, including US, Canada, EU, Australia
- Generated one of the largest charitable checks in Folsom Street Events' history, $326,161 (raising $2 million of the agency's nearly $4.5 million total in just the last six years)
- Funded 70+ charities in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation and the world
