Robot Bomb Shelter, a.k.a. Jake Brower or RBS, was born in San Diego, CA in 1970 to two young hippie parents: one a classical 12-string guitarist and artist and the other an avid music lover. Robot Bomb Shelter's professional career began in late 2006. After over two decades of producing music under various names, Robot Bomb Shelter was born. His debut professional album, "Robot Picnic," came out on June 1, 2009 and quickly became a favorite among fans. Prior to his debut professional release, he produced two EPs and nine singles as an independent artist under various names. Although not signed to a label, RBS forges on making headway and gathering fans from all over the world.
His background stems from a deep love for electronic music, specifically in the genres industrial/EBM in his early days to trance and now to electro/techno. Some big influences over the years include MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism, Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 – all rolled into one. His sound is a blend of many aspects of dance music, but most of all, his music is fun and always gets the crowd moving.
Jake is not a DJ, but for live performances, he uses a laptop and the Akai APC40 to control, mix and create his own music – live! The APC40 is a great tool that allows him to break free from having a standard set by giving him control to improvise in real time. In this way, his sets are dynamic enough to go from a 20-minute set to a 60-minute set with relative ease. He even comes with his own LED light panels, which are also controlled by Ableton.
It's truly an electronic music sensory experience and would fit perfectly in large festivals or more intimate settings. He is currently rocking the house and filling dance floors of all sizes with his unique and fun dance music. All of his current releases are available on many large e-tailers such as iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, eMusic and Napster. |
