Using the moniker, DJ MC2, he’s been a professional dj for three decades. As a native Hawaiian, DJ MC2 was born with a tone-arm and a love for dance music, and started dj’ing at a very early age in the clubs and bars of Hawaii.
After his first audition, he landed a regular weeknight gig at Hamburger Mary’s infamous and popular alternative gay dance bar, Dirty Mary’s (think, The Eagle – with a dance floor). While honing his craft, DJ MC2 was given the opportunity to ‘fill in’ as the guest dj for the night and had the dance floor packed, and thus began a successful career as he continued on as the weekend dj. He spent the better part of 10 years playing at Hamburger Mary’s/Dirty Mary’s as well as other local gay Hawaii hot spots.
Upon moving to San Francisco, he searched out the best bars and clubs to find his niche. He took what gigs came his way, and he continued on his path of networking with promoters as he entered the next chapter as a local San Francisco DJ.
DJ MC2 is the co-creator of the Award Winning Drag Show & Party ‘The Monster Show’; the show started out as a mainstay at Harvey’s Bar in The Castro.
After spending 4 years at Harvey’s, and various other locals, The Monster Show found a permanent home at the newly renovated Edge Bar, every Thursday Night @ 10pm, as well as a yearly spot at The Castro Street Fair, Bootie SF @ DNA Lounge for Pride Month, as well as special events throughout The City.
Currently, DJ MC2 is the resident DJ at The Edge Bar every Sunday for the throwback anthem party “Kick It Sundays”, and Thursdays for The Monster Show. Though The Edge is not specifically a dance bar, his audience can’t help but move; DJ MC2 is a staff and crowd favorite.
DJ MC2 has played to packed dance floors throughout SF, including The Stud Bar, DECO, Underground SF, Mighty (Industry), Club 8 (Big Top), Lookout Bar for JOCK Sundays & Mary Go Round, and DNA Lounge for Trannyshack & Bootie SF.
